Don’t Even Try It: Copyright Problems

According to Merriam- Webster Dictionary, Copyright is defined as “the exclusive legal right to reproduce, publish, sell, or distribute the matter and form of something (as a literary, musical, or artistic work).” Reading the Conversations About Copyright post,  I realize that in this  social media- obsessed society, copyrighted materials are being used more and more in other’s works. On the flip side, owners create things such as gifs or term often lack the knowledge about copyright. Take for example, Peaches Monroe. Peaches Monroe is responsible for the term ” Fleek” but because she didn’t make efforts to copyright (according to Peaches, she didn’t want to), companies such as Forever 21 are using her term on their merchandise without considering fair use because it wasn’t copyrighted.  I wonder if Peaches had been more ‘knowledgeable’ and monetized her term, she would be making mad coins, girl.

Anyways , I’ll post a link to an article to read more about Peaches Monroe and hopefully y’all will donate to  her go fund me account for her new business venture.
